Let Sleep Come as a Kindness: A Nighttime Prayer for the Soul-Weary

God, I’ve done what I could today.
I’ve carried weight that wasn’t mine alone,
stood in places others walked past,
and let my heart feel what many refuse to touch.

Now I am tired—
not just in body, but in soul.
So I give You what’s left of me tonight:

The breath I’ve been holding.
The questions I can’t answer.
The pain I can’t fix.
The people I can’t protect.

Hold them, God.
And hold me too.

Wrap me in the kind of peace that doesn’t need explanations.
Quiet the parts of me still fighting battles in the dark.
Let Your Spirit settle over me like soft rain on dry ground.

Let sleep come as a kindness, not an escape.
And if I cry as I rest, let my tears be prayers.
If I dream, let it be healing.
And when I wake,
let it be with strength I didn’t have to earn.

Amen.

🌿 Before You Keep Reading…

Don’t just ask, “Do I agree?”
Ask:
What’s being said?
What’s being left out?
Who benefits if I believe this?
What stays the same if I don’t?
What could change if I do?

This is how selective thinking begins.
